Philippines needs a Filipino Identification Card |
A Philippine congressman said on Friday that the Philippines needs a unified national ID system or the so-calledFilipino Identification Card.
The Albay 2nd District Rep. Al Francis Bichara gives the Filipinos an ID separated from their passports and driver's licenses.
"We really need a unified ID that will include our SSS number, GSIS, voter's ID number, TIN...All the relevant info," he said on DZMM
The congressman also said that the Filipino Identification Card will include the person's photograph, name, birth date, gender, signature and other relevant information of the person.
According to the congressman, producing the Filipino identification card will be the responsibility of the Philippine Statistics Authority, they are tasked to create and maintain a Filipino Citizen Registry.
He also said that anyone can already claim their non-transferable ID when they reach the legal age of 18.
It was also stated that when the identification card is already presented to any government agency no otheridentification card will be required.
